“Hope For Justice” is a newly established charity whose aims are to rally the Church to address the unjust issues of slavery and trafficking of men, women and children. The main objective of the organisation is a plea to the Church to stand up and say, “This must stop”, to motivate the Church and individuals within the Church to get involved.
The first major initiative of “Hope for Justice” is the “THE STAND”, an event to be held in Birmingham at The LG Arena on Saturday 8th November 2008. Thousands of people are invited to attend. The day will include performances from significant bands including YFR!DAY, Tim Hughes, Four Kornerz, Bluetree, Abundant Life Worship Team and Paul Field, well-known speakers, prayer sessions and information of ways to get involved.
Slavery and trafficking of men, women and children is alive and flourishing today – it is a multi-million dollar industry fast becoming one of the largest sources of income for organised crime around the world. Right now, at least 27 million people are in some form of slavery, dehumanised, stripped of their most basic rights.
Ben Cooley, the founder of “Hope For Justice” has a vision to see the Church come together to unite against these heinous crimes.
Hope for Justice is supported by well-known Church leaders and speakers Rob & Marion White, and by a team drawn from several Christian agencies already engaged in such work, such as OM, IJM, Stop the Traffik, Care, A21 campaign, Jubilee Action and under the banner of Hope 08. This promises to be a major turning point in bringing God’s justice into being. TOGETHER. UNITED - in prayer and action – as never before.
